About Vidya…

Vidya Sarveswaran is an Associate Professor of English in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at IIT Jodhpur, India. Her Phd from IIT Madras focussed on an Ecocritical study of the writings of Terry Tempest Williams. She is a Fulbright Fellow (2008-2009) and a Rachel Carson Fellow (2016) from LMU Munich.

Her research and teaching focus on Environmental Humanities, Environment and Culture, Ecocriticism and Literary Studies.Vidya has co-edited two books: Ecoambiguity, Community and Development: Toward a Politicized Ecocriticism( Lexington Press Maryland, 2014) and Ecocriticism of the Global South books (Lexington Press, Maryland 2015).She is currently working on an edited volume titled Ecocriticism and Environmental Communication (Routledge). She was the student editor of the Indian Journal of Ecocriticism (OSLE –India and IIT Madras) collaboration. An avid reader,Vidya enjoys scripting documentaries, writing short stories, clicking street scapes,cycling into a headwind, watching films and listening to anything from Abba to Ariana Grande.She loves quizzing and theater and enjoys teaching and is passionate about her research on the Environment. She is currently working on a script and a film that seeks to document ecological narratives around Rajasthan.
